We received word today, that we will be taking the ferry to Ireland Tuesday 23 April. We are excited to meet and work with the Saints in Waterford, Ireland. Of course, we are also saddened to leave the Saints that we have worked with here in Glasgow, Pollok Ward, Scotland. All except one, that we have worked with since our arrival nearly one year ago have returned to activity. The most recent was this past Sunday. We were sooooo excited to see him there. The activity rate was 11% when we arrived, and now stands at nearly 18%. A year ago there was about 30 in attendance at Sacrament meeting and we set a goal to achieve 60 in attendance of Ward members without counting visitors. Last Sunday there were 54 and we hope that this coming Sunday, our last Sunday we may be able to achieve that goal.
Following will be the last of our pictures from Scotland:
We met in Edinburgh with all of the Scotland Senior Missionaries along with President & Sister Brown to attend the theater production of, "Oklahoma!" What a wonderful experience. This is one of the box seat section of the theater.
Elder & Sister Rasmussen from Pocatello! They are the office couple at the Mission Home. We look forward to being able to see them often after we each fulfill our missions.
Elder & Sister Hambleton from Boise! We actually have connections with them. Sister Hambletons cousin has a son married to the daughter of my cousin. Elder Hambleton was also the Bishop of the singles ward in Boise where Amy attended with Amber Waite.
A trip to Ayrshire, Scotland took us to the Culzean Castle. (The z is silent) Ayrshire is where the McConnel's originally came from.
Redheads are NOT a dying bread!! All of us were in the same district. It did draw attention at the all Scotland conference from some of the Senior Missionaries.
Just in case you wondered, or even if you didn't.....we CAN drive in rush hour traffic in a city of 1,000,000!! Much to our amazment, it isn't as bad as we configured in our minds.
During April Conference, there was a talk from the General Young Women's President. She mentioned this plaque in her talk..."What e're that art...act well thy part"
This is Sister Terri Price. We found that our Great Grandfathers were BROTHERS!!!! Not only that, we grew up in the SAME Stake, had our Patriarchal Blessings by the SAME Patriarch!! Only one day difference in our ages....and we never met until we were half a world away from home. We look forward to getting to know each other better and keeping up for many years to come.
The most recent group picture of the Scotland Senior Missionaries. What a blessing it has been to rub shoulders with these marvelous Elders & Sisters!!
Brother Allan and Sister Cathie Craine are a couple that we have enjoyed working with in the Pollok Ward. We are looking forward to going to the Temple with them when they will have the priviledge of being sealed together.
Well, that's all for Scotland......More to come from Ireland. Farewell Pollok Ward!
