.. Finally, I got some free time to try and catch you up on what has been going on this past month. We arrived in Ireland the 23rd of April. We felt like we had arrived home. After spending 3 vacations here, it just feels like home away from home to us. We of course, miss the people of the Pollok Ward terribly and wish The Lord's most choice blessings to be on them. But, now we start another chapter in our lives. Our work is really cut out for us, they are looking for just 10 more members in the Branch to be able to have their own building. What a blessing that will be for them. Also, they are part of a District and not a Stake. Again, they are just a few short of having enough to apply to be made a Stake. Our goal is to have these two things come to pass by the time we go home in November. We will be working overtime for the next 5 1/2 months to accomplish this, with The Lord's continuing support it will happen.
Everywhere we go within the Branch boundaries is about 1 to 1 1/2 hour drives. This makes it possible for many scenery pictures. You know the kind....the drive by quickly and hope you get a picture of it.
These are on the way to Wexford and Enniscorthy.
This is going across the Rice Bridge in Waterford, then the Reginald's Tower and the Clock Tower. We haven't visited the last two so, we can't tell you more about them yet.
The yellow bushes along the roadsides and in the fields on the rock fences is called, Gorsch. They are VERY thorny and nothing will go through them. Do you think that might be good fencing for our little kids? lol These are on the way to Limerick.
There are many towers in Ireland. Originally, England built them as a strong hold to protect the island. But, when they declared their independence from England, it kept them safe from the very ones that built them.
We have seen quite a few thatched buildings. They are WAY cool.
Last week, we went to Waterford Crystal factory on a tour with another Senior couple, the Brown's. This is one clock I don't have.....yet?
It sure was good to see the American flag, even if it was crystal.
Anyone for a Pepsi, or a Coke? Crystal of course and not just any glass bottle.
This is pretty cool, it's a 9/11 tribute
More scenery on the way to Dungarvan.... The people in that area speak their native tounge, you would probably think it was called Gaelic but, they call it....Irish. Notice the Stop sign?
We made a wrong turn and had to go across this bridge. We had noticed it ever since we arrived and wondered where it went. Well, make a wrong turn and you'll find out where it goes and that it's a TOLL bridge. It was just a long way around to where we wanted to go but pretty cool looking.
This one's for Edith Butler Lowe. On the way to Limerick we went to the Ormand Castle. On the tour we found that it belonged to the Butler family from 1100 until 1997. They were all Earl's. The second one is the Butler coat of Arms inside the Castle.
This is the long hall where the women would walk everyday for their exercise. They wouldn't walk outside because their skin would darken and they would be classified or mistaken as servants. It was very desirable to have very white skin.
This is Limerick at night.
We arrived back in Waterford to find this huge yacht on the river Suir. Can you imagine owning such a thing? I can't imagine what the costs would be to operate it let alone pay for one. Of course, you would have to have staff to make sure your needs were met. lol
This is one of our Sister Missonaries in our District. Her name is Sister Adams and I thought she looked a lot like Katie Adams. What do you think?
We will try to keep you up to date on our progress made here in Waterford. We are so much loving serving The Lord here and feeling The Spirit work through us everyday. What a blessing it has been for us to have this experience. We love you all and pray for the Lord to bless you with all you are in need of.
Those are some awesome pictures!! Ireland is on my life list. Hopefully I will get there sooner than later!! Keep up the great work!
